Soden Photography

Seniors

The Consultation:

We thank you for considering Soden Photography for your Senior portraits! We believe that each portrait is a work of art that should express your personality. During the consultation, we will discuss particular styles, hobbies, and wardrobes that can be used. We will also discuss props and locations desired. Feel free to ask questions and view examples of our images, and speciality prints! Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun! Please bring some friends. Generally, when a senior brings a friend(s), some pretty radical ideas get thrown around, and a unique senior picture is the result! You can bring animals. We will travel up to 50 miles, or within an area of Lawrence, north to Holton, West to Manhattan, South to Council Grove, and East to Lawrence, and anywhere within. You will find out that we don't have restrictions on wardrobes, but keep it within reason. We want to get as much done as possible, so you have more proofs to choose from. You will want to spend your time being photographed, not changing numerous clothes.

Do's and Dont's:

Do......

- Choose outfits that make you look and feel your best.

- Make wardrobe choices ahead of time. Don't try to throw together a few changes of clothes 5 minutes before you leave.
You don't want to be in the middle of a photoshoot and realize you forgot your athletic jerzey, or cheerleading outfit!

- Ask questions at your consultation. The day of the shoot is NOT a time to experiment with different styles.

- Try to get plenty of sleep the night before your session.

Guys: Keep it real! Plain Tee-shirts or dress shirts with jeans, shorts, or slacks always look nice. Don't forget to consider your letter jacket, or other activities outfits. Bring accessories such as belts and hats. Make sure your shoes match!

Ladies: Usually light colors for summer, and darker colors for fall. Of course, exceptions are just fine.
Please make sure your shoes match. Don't forget to bring makeup and hairspray, if you use it. Summertime is usually hot and humid and windy, and if we're outside, you might sweat, and have to re-apply makeup. We provide a place for you to touchup at our studio. Don't wear dark colored undergarments with light colored clothes as they could show through, and this can't be retouched. An example of this is....a black bra with a light colored dress.

Dont......

- Try anything drastic a few weeks before your session, such as a new hair style or hair color.

- If you plan on tanning, keep it short, and don't tan within a few days of your session. Anybody with a sunburn will probably have to cancel their session. The orange and yellowish skin tones associated with tannning will look unnatural. Tanning can also overdry your hair, show excess shine on the skin, and leave bags under your eyes. Tan lines will show in your photos, and can't be removed.

- Get a haircut a day or two before your session. For guys, the ideal time is about 10 days before, and for you ladies, don't try a new style, curl, or color before your session.

- Deprive yourself of sleep before your photoshoot. You WILL have bags under your eyes, and end up with a "tired warn out look".

Just remember this: Keep it simple, keep it real, and let Soden Photography worry about the rest!!!!
